Nature as an Ally

At Toroto, we implement nature-based solutions that help restore ecological balance and ensure long-term water availability.

These solutions take advantage of natural land processes to protect, manage and restore ecosystem health, while strengthening communities' capacity to adapt to droughts and other climate challenges.

Together, these actions promote the recharge of aquifers, the reduction of erosion, the improvement of soil fertility, the increase of vegetation cover and the regeneration of landscapes.

From Science to Impact

Community-owned Territroty

We study the behavior of water in the basin to guide effective restoration. Fieldwork validates data and focuses efforts where there is the greatest impact.

Local knowledge and co-design

Local knowledge and co-design

We collaborate with communities from the start to identify challenges and co-design solutions. This guarantees long-term ownership and impact.

Execution with community leadership

Execution with community leadership

Community leaders become part of the Toroto team, taking the leading role in the execution and care of the restoration in their territory.

To quantify the water impact of our interventions, we use the framework of Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting (VWBA)

Developed by the World Resources Institute: the most recognized international methodology for validating responsible corporate water actions.

Assign a volumetric value (liters or m³) to reclaimed, saved or protected water, considering the local context of each basin

Collaboration that Empowers

We work side by side with them to strengthen capacities, exchange knowledge, generate decent jobs and design solutions that allow them to live by caring for their resources.
